Bulgaria - part 1

Finally, I managed to join Bulgaria in order to live a really nice riding experience.

Sunday, 17th, I took a fly to Sofia, by Munich, which allowed me to overfly some beautiful Austrian peaks. Ivan, a Bulgarian friend from Grenoble, was waiting for me at Sofia airport with P-A, he drove me to our hotel, in which I met Marc and Jé, two crazy guys from Thonon. We had a nice evening in Sofia, joined by Elena and Brice. After a good but short night, we moved to Bansko at the foot of the Bulgarian Pirin mountain range. So I discovered the charming but destroyed Bulgarian roads on which only German quality can resist.

Bansko is a really nice ski resort, probably the most equipped I have seen in east Europe, with all the new stuff you could imagine. That is strongly contrasting with traditional villages around.
Since the beginning of our travel, the weather is incredibly good, with an azure sky. There is also a huge amount of snow, but quite hard, we could find powder snow only between trees in the forest.
We also spend two skiing days in Bezbog, a really small resort not so far from Bansko, with only one Chairlift and a refuge (2200m) on the top. We joined there Zdravko and Natasha, his French girlfriend. On Wednesday evening, we decided to climb the summit (2730m) in order to have a moon light ride.At the highest point, temperature was quite cold, hopefully we took some rakiya (a crazy strong Bulgarian alcohol). Back to the refuge, the guardian offered us some drinks, the last downhill to our cars will be hard, and we need to be fast to be back before the eclipse if we wanted to have some light. What a wonderful day!
Yesterday, we build a nice jump in the forest between firs. My first freestyle day of the year and despite three back flips my bones are still in good fit.
More photos are here.
